Five months old!!

Dearest Nicholas,
I cannot believe you are already five months old!! Where has the time gone sweet sweet boy!!?!! Your daddy and I love you so much. I am two days late with this post, but that’s okay! Time got away fom me and I somehow got my days mixed up with the two of us feeling under the weather these past few days. I think you are starting to feel better and so am I. Thank goodness for that! As I write this you are napping in your lamb chair and dada is outside transplanting some flowers from the front yard to the back yard. Before you and I came inside for you to eat, your mama and dada planted our first plant ever!! Well it was at least my first plant ever! Your mimi and poppy bought me a hydrangea, my favorite flower, for Mother’s Day!! It is absolutely beautiful! Now on to your updates at five months!!

Weight/Length: You are around 28 inches or so and according to the scales this morning (though you were fully dressed and had just eaten) you weigh 23 pounds!!!? What??!! You are so big my little boy and Daddy and I think there might just be some football in your future. A future Carolina Gamecock maybe!
Feeding: You continue to eat like a champ and are still breastfeeding exclusively. You eat every three to four hours but sometimes more often in the morning or at night. You still love to eat, but your nursing sessions don’t last as long as they did. I remember when it seemed like each time you nursed, it lasted at least 45 minutes to an hour!
Sleeping: You are still struggling with going down for naps, but you sleep great at night. You are sleeping between 9 and 11 hours a night and are usually going to bed between 8:30 and 10pm. You like to push it, haha and see how late you can stay up, but I don’t blame you, mama and dada are fun!! We love every minute with you, but I sometimes worry that you are not getting enough rest. The good thing is if you wake up before 8am each morning then you will usually go back to sleep for another hour or two and I love this because I can lay in bed some too or get up and watch the today show and make a pot of coffee before we start our day together!
Firsts/Developments this week/month: You are rolling more from back to front and even sleeping on your stomach and side some at night. You love to say ahhhhhh and get louder and louder as you say it. Your smiles and your laugh are contagious and any funny noise will set you off. You are grabbing at everything and dada likes to call you a leach, so funny! Today while we planted the hydrangea I received from mimi for mother’s day you played on a sheet on the grass and just loved being outdoors. You seem to really love being outside!
Things I am thankful for/looking forward to:You and the joy you bring into our lives, it is a joy I never knew existed until I met you. Dada, planning your first birthday ( I just cannot help it), Gigi is visiting this week, shopping with Gigi, play dates this week with other new moms and their sweet babies, all of the weddings we get to help celebrate this summer and our Beach trips.
Next Pediatrician Appointment: June 22ndfor your 6 month visit!!
I love you so much Nicholas and am so thankful for you. Thank you for filling our lives with such joy, love and contentment!
Love,
your mother
